Italian Home Cooking


Having worked for many years in shipping-related roles at a general trading company, I frequently visited countries around the world and came to appreciate that every nation has its own wonderful regional cuisine. After wrapping up that phase of my career, I decided to pursue cooking in depth during my second career. I chose to study abroad this time because I wanted to learn Italy's rich culinary culture firsthand.

総合商社で長く海運関係の仕事に携わり、世界各国を訪問することが多い環境で、どの国にも素晴らしい郷土料理があることを知りました。 仕事が一段落した第二の人生で、料理を深掘りすることにしました。 イタリアの豊かな食文化を現地で学びたいと、今回の留学を決めました。

Summer Course – Home Cooking (#4) – N.M.

week4

Monday..
Today I learned home cooking at my teacher’s house. Her home is filled with things she loves, and she cherishes her daily cooking and life. It was a very enjoyable, relaxed hands-on session.
In the afternoon, I visited a small church in Fiesole recommended by my teacher and enjoyed the panoramic view of Florence in the silence.

月曜日。
今日は先生の自宅で家庭料理を習う。家は彼女の好きなもので埋め尽くされていて、日々の料理と生活を大切に慈しんでいる。自然体でとても楽しい実習だった。
午後は先生に勧められたFiesoleの小さな教会を訪れて、静寂の中フィレンツェのパノラマ風景を楽しんだ。

Tuesday.
Breakfast was an uva tart recommended by the local grocer: “I eat this every day myself.” It was delicious. Let’s go with energy today too.

火曜日。
近所の食料品屋さんで「私も毎日食べてるわよ」と勧められたウーヴァのタルトで朝食。 とてもおいしい。今日も元気に行こう。

Wednesday.
Visited a winery in Montalcino. The idyllic Tuscan landscape stretched on. At the winery spread across the hillside, the vines were heavy with grapes. I think Brunello is truly delicious.

水曜日。
モンタルチーノのワイナリーを訪問。トスカーナの牧歌的風景が続く。丘の斜面に広がるワイナリーでは、葡萄がたわわに実っていた。ブルネッロがとてもおいしいと思う。

Thursday.
Dinner with my schoolmates. The chef and staff welcomed us warmly, and we enjoyed fried zucchini flowers and an impressive Tuscan steak.

木曜日。
学校の仲間たちと夜ごはん。シェフもお店の皆さんも温かく迎えてくれ、花ズッキーニのフライや、迫力のトスカーナステーキなどを堪能した。

Friday.
The final day of the course. Today’s menu: Florentine-style tripe, puttanesca pasta, herb potato salad, and bell pepper salad. We successfully received our certificates and took commemorative photos. This time too, I learned so much.
Evening.
On the school’s Art Visit, we toured Dante’s House and the Ponte Vecchio. The beauty of Ponte Vecchio viewed from the Ferragamo side was truly breathtaking.

金曜日。
コースの最終日を迎える。今日の献立は、フィレンツェ風トリッパ、プッタネスカ、じゃがいものハーブサラダ、パプリカのサラダ。無事修了証をいただき、記念撮影。今回も色々な学びがあった。
夕方。 学校のArt Visitで、ダンテの家やポンテヴァッキオを回る。フェラガモ側から見るポンテヴェッキオの美しさは目を見張るものだった。

Sunday.
Yesterday, we left the school’s lodging and moved to an apartment in the city center to enjoy our final few days before returning home. It’s a quiet, bright, and pleasant apartment.
Evening. Aperitivo at home with school friends. The fun conversation flowed on and on.

昨日学校の宿泊施設を出て、街中のアパートに移動して、帰国前の数日を満喫する。静かで明るくて気持ちのいいアパートだ。 夕方。学校の友だちと自宅でアペロ。楽しいおしゃべりが続いた。
